The Gospel Has Always Traveled New Roads

How Christian leaders can navigate cultural and technological change without compromising biblical conviction

Throughout history, the Church has repeatedly faced moments of disruption brought on by new technologies, cultural shifts, and changing patterns of communication. This keynote explores how Christians have historically responded to innovation — sometimes courageously and sometimes fearfully — and what modern leaders can learn from those moments today. Drawing from decades of experience in Christian media, digital strategy, and nonprofit leadership, Scott challenges audiences to rethink how the “invisible roads” of technology and media are shaping faith, discipleship, worship, and Gospel access in a rapidly changing world.

The Church Between Sundays

Why digital engagement has become essential to modern discipleship and spiritual connection

People no longer experience faith only inside church buildings or during weekend services. Increasingly, encouragement, worship, teaching, and spiritual exploration happen throughout the week through streaming, podcasts, social media, video, music, and digital communities. This presentation explores how churches and ministries can thoughtfully engage people beyond traditional models while remaining deeply rooted in biblical truth, authentic community, and meaningful discipleship.

Virtuous Mediocrity

Pursuing Excellence in the Pursuit of the Great Commission

Many faith-based organizations begin with courage, sacrifice, urgency, and a deep dependence on God — but over time, success, familiarity, limited expectations, and institutional comfort can quietly produce complacency. In this inspirational and challenging keynote, Scott Fehrenbacher explores how Christian ministries, churches, schools, nonprofits, and leaders can unintentionally settle into what he calls “virtuous mediocrity” — doing good work, but no longer pursuing excellence, innovation, creativity, or bold vision with the urgency the Gospel deserves.

Rooted in Bible Colossians 3:23 — “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters” — this presentation calls Christian leaders to reject passive maintenance thinking and rediscover a culture of excellence, stewardship, creativity, and courageous mission. Through personal stories, leadership lessons, and practical insights drawn from decades in Christian media, education, and nonprofit leadership, Scott challenges audiences to pursue their calling with renewed passion, intentionality, and wholehearted commitment to the Great Commission.

INVISIBLE ROADS

Invisible Roads explores how the unseen systems of media, technology, communication, and digital culture are quietly reshaping the way people think, connect, worship, learn, and encounter faith in the modern world. Drawing from decades of leadership experience in Christian media, higher education, digital strategy, and nonprofit innovation across both the United States and Canada, Scott Fehrenbacher examines how the Church has historically responded to major communication revolutions — from roads and printing presses to radio, television, the internet, streaming, and artificial intelligence.

More than a book about technology, Invisible Roads is a call for Christian leaders and organizations to thoughtfully engage the opportunities and challenges of a rapidly changing culture with wisdom, courage, creativity, and a renewed commitment to the Great Commission.
